Bodies as celestial entities
can we add more dazzling layers to our own human skin?

This commission demanded something divine — a cross between the impressively illuminated Eiffel Tower every night with its dazzling light formations, and the planet of Andromeda. I had to take that trip, and I had to come back with deep burgundy, purple and red elastic mesh long-sleeve bodies, covered in crystals that float almost peripheral to the body yet never attached to it.

To achieve that, we used customised Swarovski flatback crystals — achieving a high-quality sparkle through new facets cut into the glass, which reflected light with more brilliance than their standard products. The costumes did not restrain the dancers. It became an atmosphere in orbit around them throughout the performance.

Micro-reflective surfaces revealed only when the divine light finds them. And then — an explosion of stars and galaxies, always in motion, eternally timeless and impressive.
