Compact colour as a global language —
the costume as translation.
Depeche Mode, coloured vinyl and the birth of postmodernism in the excess of the colourful 80s — these were my starting points. I designed scuba-diving full-length, long-sleeve academic bodies from elastic mesh with hidden details that revealed new, exaggerated silhouettes.
Same design, multiple bodies, multiple colours. Fuchsia, cobalt, chrome yellow, deep crimson, electric blue, rich coral, acid pink — each dancer representing an emotion. When the lights dropped, their sharp shadows became additional costumes. And when colour falls away, the strong presence remains.
An homage to my childhood fashion heroes — Azzedine Alaïa, Thierry Mugler, Jean Paul Gaultier — in the soundtrack of my youth, performed so vividly and seductively by a stellar cast in an incredible choreography.
